Silver Harbour Sailing Club

Welcome Aboard!!!

The Silver Harbour Sailing Club is located in the heart of the North American continent on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg.  Lake Winnipeg is a dominant feature of the province of Manitoba's topography and is one of Canada's three truly all Canadian "Great Lakes".  This "sea lake" has become a magnet for keelboat sailors, providing an expanse of water for pleasant day sails or extensive cruises.

Members of  the Silver Harbour Sailing Club enjoy sailing Lake Winnipeg in a variety of keelboats.  Cruising has again become the focal point for club summer activities.  Many members have  extensively explored the lake.  Each year members cruise to the reaches of Lake Winnipeg often in small flotillas. There are also several day excursions to nearby sheltered harbours.

Our home base is the Silver Harbour Marine Resort. The facility has undergone many improvements in the last few years including new high quality slips for our boats, a post office and convenience store. The expanse of open green space is immaculately maintained. Marina services include a boat launch, a mobile lift for boats and outdoor winter storage. Fuel and general supplies are available in the nearby communities of Gimli, Riverton and Arborg. The three basins of the marina are protected from from the open water of Lake Winnipeg with access via a boat channel. Barbecues are provided be the sailing club for members. Most weekends find members enjoying potluck get togethers and campfire gatherings. You can walk and swim for kilometres along the sandy beaches at the entrance to Silver Harbour. A morning or evening stroll along these beaches is as close to a maritime experience as you will find in central Canada.

In addition to cruising there are organized social events throughout  the year including  golf tournaments, pot-luck theme nights and  an annual spring banquet. The spring banquet provides an opportunity to reminisce about the previous season's experiences and plan for the upcoming season.
